What is the TIE programme?

The Teacher Industry Exchange Programme (TIE) is a Department for Education (DfE) funded programme which forms part of the Government’s £635 million investment to boost construction skills across the country.

Designed to create meaningful partnerships between industry specialists and technical educators which enhance teaching practice and develop a stronger construction workforce.

What are the benefits?

We offer financial reimbursements for FE providers and colleges releasing teachers to spend time in industry outside of their usual CPD allocation. The TIE helps teachers reconnect with current practices, technologies and industry expectations, ensuring students are better prepared for the workplace. This programme provides participants with certified training that supports their own professional development and ability to support the development of others.

Funding

The TIE will reimburse FE providers for the time that teachers are taken out of their teaching timetable, to cover the cost of supply teachers. This will be up to a value of £395 per day and paid based on costs incurred.  A half day is up to 4 hours and a day equates to 4-8 hours.

Funding can also be utilised to cover any preparatory requirements, such as a CSCS card, PPE and induction time.
