Career Journeys

THE FUTURE OF CONSTRUCTION SKILLS

The SECTEC will work to support progression through immersive promotion and clearer, flexible pathways developed with industry and aligned to sector specialisms and workforce needs.

About Career Journeys

Currently, the SECTEC is seeking to capture and promote the type of career journeys young people could expect to take within the construction sector.  The Construction Careers Map is being developed to provide an interactive digital platform through which people can look at the real-life career journeys that people in the sector have taken and what qualifications and training they have completed to underpin it.    This will be a free interactive tool that will not only help people understand careers in the industry but also help to understand the more common routes taken to progress within the sector.   The SECTEC is also undertaking some small scale ‘test-and-learn’ activities that have been co-designed with construction employers to create immersive experiences for young school age people and school teachers, aimed at sustained engagement, leading to positive outcomes.

We aim to update the map and include new case studies to expand and improve the information it offers. Contributions from various experiences and journeys will help further develop the career map.

Extra case studies are welcome to support this initiative. If you are willing to share a case study of your career journey or if you would like to help build one, please click find out more.
