Construction Technical Excellence Colleges are part of a £100 million initiative aimed at addressing construction skills shortages, responding to 35,000 vacancies in the construction sector and supporting the government’s ambition to build 1.5 million new homes.
Through creation of a powerful collaboration between employers and skills providers, the SECTEC led by North Kent College as the hub, will provide capacity, scale and momentum to achieve a real step change in improving the range, quality and access of construction training across the South East of England. This will help supply a skilled and sustainable workforce equipped to deliver the housing and infrastructure requirements of the region. CTECs are very new and we are currently working to establish the foundations and structures that will enable the SECTEC to deliver its aims and objectives.
Technical Excellence Colleges have been set five objectives by the Department of Education.
North Kent College, as the SECTEC hub, will act as a systems leader, driving greater coordination and collaboration in the skills system, working in partnership across the region.
